BARDEL ENTERTAINMENT

For over 20 years, Bardel Entertainment has been an industry leader in media and entertainment. Co-founded in Vancouver, B.C. by Barry Ward and Delna Bhesania, as a ink-and-paint service to independent producers and boutique studios like Marv Newland's International Rocketship and Spike and Mike's Festival of Animation, Bardel Entertainment has grown into one of Canada's leading animation and digital media companies. Bardel now works on television and film productions for major US studios such as Nickelodeon, Disney, DreamWorks and Warner Bros. and develops world-class interactive online content. Through the company's distribution arm, Bardel's proprietary programs can be seen in over 140 different countries on major television networks including Disney, Cartoon Network, BBC, CBC, Teletoon and YTV.

"There are two main differences from the old Bardel to what the company is today," advises Barry Ward, President of Bardel, "the first is the embracing of technology by the studios artists. Whereas we had desks and discs in the past, we now have computers, many with the same old faces now in front of a terminal screen. This transition has allowed Bardel to keep animating and for the time being be competitive with other animation service providers around the world." In fact, in this area, Bardel is setting the lead, creating some of the first convergent content available both on TV and online. For example, the company created the world's first television Flash animated series, Mucha Lucha (Warner Bros.) as well as, The Buzz on Maggie (Disney). Most recently, they are providing animation services on the primetime TV series Bob's Burgers for Fox and Neighbors From Hell for DreamWorks.

Since its inception, the studio has continuously delivered award-winning animated content for global broadcast while also providing creative animation services to major North American entertainment companies. For example, Bardel has worked on feature animation for many major studios, including The Prince of Egypt, The Road to El Dorado, Anastasia and Space Jam. However, it is their latest feature animated work, Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet of which they are most proud. Envisioned to be traditional hand-drawn animation, Bardel created its own proprietary pipeline, which combined 3D animation and 2D finaling to emulate the look of hand-drawn animation. The result has been hailed as a landmark achievement in animation. Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.

From its humble beginnings, Bardel has proven to be a great example of a highly successful B.C.-based, family-owned business. With their talented and dedicated team committed to innovation and invention, Bardel Entertainment will continue to grow as an industry leader in the field of animation for many more years to come.
